Penn Hills Elementary School Hosts Annual Veterans Day Breakfast
On Monday, November 11, Penn Hills Elementary School had the honor of welcoming over 100 veterans for their annual Veterans Day Breakfast Celebration.
Students invite veteran family members to school each year for a breakfast to honor their service, making this a cherished tradition. Students are encouraged to bring any veteran to join in the celebration.
While veterans enjoy breakfast, the celebration extends beyond the meal, becoming a school-wide event. Leading up to Veterans Day, students and staff contribute photos of veterans—both past and present—that are featured in a Veterans Day slideshow. This slideshow is not only shown during breakfast but also runs throughout the day as a visual tribute to those who have served our country.
This year, the Penn Hills Elementary School Chorus and Advanced Band were also invited to perform for the veterans. The Chorus kicked off the celebration with the National Anthem, and all in attendance stood in reverence, hands over hearts. The band followed with a performance of "America the Beautiful."
The celebration concluded with the school's annual parade, where students proudly walked alongside their veterans through the hallways. Staff and students lined the halls to cheer, wave flags, and thank the veterans for their service and sacrifice.
Penn Hills Elementary looks forward to this celebration each year. It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of honoring those who have served and continue to serve our country. We are proud to have so many veterans in our community.
