PA Graduation Requirements

In accordance with PA Act 158, Penn Hills School District has aligned its graduation requirements to ensure future success of all our students for the Class of 2023 and beyond.  All students will attempt Algebra I, Biology, and Literature Keystone Exams upon completion of the aligned course for each exam.  

If a student is not successful (after receiving the offered supplemental instruction) on the second attempt, students have the opportunity to meet the requirements through an alternate pathway.  Alternate pathways to fulfill the state assessment graduation requirement are defined below:

Summer School Credit Recovery

School counselors will be sending failure letters to families of students who require credit recovery or summer school courses at the end of the school year. These letters will specify the courses needed. It's important for parents and students to carefully read all the directions provided in the credit recovery brochure and the FAQs page to understand the process thoroughly.
