Frequently Asked Questions

#1: Will my child be able to have access to a computer?

Yes, the district provides equipment for use for all students including cyber students

#2 Will my child be able to participate in school related sports and activities?

Yes, your child will be able to participate in all school/district related athletics and activities as they typically would if they were students in their home(brick and mortar) schools. Each student is still considered a Penn Hills elementary, Linton Middle school or Penn Hills Senior High school student.

#3 Does my child receive a report card?

Yes, all  school district students receive report cards via Skyward online.

#4 If my child has an IEP or 504 plan can they still participate in cyber studies?

ALL school district students have the opportunity to participate in the cyber program, however an IEP team meeting is held to discuss educational needs and appropriate placements.

#5 What if I have scheduling or credit concerns?

Students and parents should contact their school counselor as well as the cyber coordinator.

#6 Can students work on Saturdays and Sundays instead of during the week?

Students must attend their online studies EACH school day (unless ahead of pace)and may utilize the weekends to get ahead or caught up with their studies.

#7 How will my student interact with their teachers?

Students may visit the Instructional Centers at their building and may email, virtually meet through TEAMS, or call their teachers. Teachers will email, call students and parents, schedule virtual TEAMS meetings, as well as request face to face visits at the Instructional Centers.

#8 What if my child and I need access to resources supported through the school?

Each family has the same access to district resources as building students. Examples:  School counselors, school nurse, special education services and school home visitor.

#9 I am worried my student will miss social interaction but I want them to participate in cyber education.

We encourage students to participate in after school/club activities, athletics and OFFline experiences (cyber experiences and trips) as well as take building courses.

#10 What if my student would like to return to the building (brick and mortar)vs cyber education?

Students are still students in their home/brick and mortar schools and meet with their school counselor to make schedule changes to the building at the change of the quarter.
